Beer Review - Saison Dupont from Brasserie Dupont

Brasserie Dupont is what happens when a working Belgian farm never quite stops tinkering, and one of those experiments accidentally becomes the global yardstick for what a saison should taste like. Saison Dupont is not a hype release or a shiny new collab; it is the farmhouse table everyone else keeps pulling their chairs up to, decade after decade, and somehow the conversation still feels fresh. From Hainaut farm to benchmark saison The story starts in 1759 on a modest farm in Tourpes, in Belgium’s Hainaut region, long before anyone was arguing about haze or IBUs, when brewing was just one more way to keep workers hydrated and the harvest moving. By 1844 that farm had become a full farm‑brewery, turning out honey beers and rustic “saison” ales meant to slake the thirst of seasonal laborers who had been in the sun far too long to care about tasting notes. The “Dupont” part of the name arrives in 1920, when Louis Dupont is talked out of emigrating to Canada...

Craft Brewing in 2026: The Industry’s Reset Is Creating a Smarter, Leaner Future

The craft brewing industry is entering 2026 with a different mood than the one that fueled its rise. The era of easy expansion is over, but that does not mean craft beer is finished; it means the market is maturing, and the breweries that survive this phase will likely be the ones that know how to balance quality, price, and identity. That shift is visible everywhere. Breweries are closing more often than they are opening, production has softened, and even packaging decisions now carry more strategic weight than they did just a few years ago. At the same time, there are still clear signs of resilience, especially among brewers that can make beer people actually want to buy again and again. The New Reality for Craft Beer Craft beer is no longer riding the wave of novelty. Recent industry reporting shows that U.S. craft production fell in 2024 and again in 2025, while closures outpaced openings, a reversal that would have seemed hard to imagine during the boom years. Tha...

Craft Beer Faces Continued Declines in 2026: What the Latest Beer Market News Means for Drinkers and Brewers

Craft beer is still under pressure in 2026 as sales decline, brewery closures continue, and brewers adapt with low-ABV, non-alcoholic, and traditional styles. The latest beer news is not exactly celebratory, but it is important. Craft beer continues to face meaningful headwinds in 2026, with recent market data showing further declines in sales and case volume, even as brewers look for new ways to reconnect with drinkers. That does not mean the category lacks life. It means the market has changed, and the brands that survive will likely be the ones that understand what today’s beer drinker actually wants. According to recent industry reporting, craft beer sales totaled $4.4 billion for the 52 weeks ending Dec. 28, 2025, down 4.3%, while case sales fell 5.8%. Those numbers reflect more than a temporary slowdown. They show a category still adjusting to shifting consumer habits, stronger competition from ready-to-drink beverages, and reduced shelf space at retail. What sta...
